How To Tie Down A Christmas Tree To Your Car?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and you know what that means – it’s time to venture out and find your perfect Christmas tree! Once you’ve cut down your tree and found that it’s full and green in all the right places, it’s time to take it home. But how can you possibly get it there? Our Peoria Volkswagen dealership is here to tell you how to tie down a Christmas tree to your car.
Measure Your Christmas Tree
Before you make your Christmas tree purchase, be sure to measure it first. You wouldn’t want to get it all the way home only to find it doesn’t fit in your living room! Your tree should be at least six inches below the ceiling or more depending on your tree topper.
Use The Right Volkswagen
The best way to transport your Christmas tree is on top of a vehicle equipped with a roof rack. An SUV such as the Volkswagen Tiguan can fit your tree inside with the doors closed, so it’s perfect for hauling your tree home!
Protect Your Tree and Car
Most Christmas tree farms provide netting, but if you happen to go to one that doesn’t, you should shake your tree before wrapping it in an old blanket or tarp to ensure that you don’t end up with needles all over your vehicle. You should also spread another blanket on the roof or bed of your truck to protect your car from scratches, and ensure the tree won’t shed as many needles on the way home.
Position The Tree
Position our tree so that the trunk is facing toward the front of the vehicle. This helps prevent wind damage to the tree and ensures that you won’t lose a ton of needles.
Tying Your Tree in Place with Roof Racks
If you have a roof rack, secure the tree to your vehicle by first opening your car doors. Next, take a piece of rope and knot it to one side of the roof rack. Stretch the rope across the tree, stopping to wrap the line a couple of times around the trunk, before tying off the rope to the roof rack on the other side. Wrapping the line around the trunk helps to prevent the tree from sliding under the line and becoming a danger on the road. All that’s left is to repeat this process in the middle and near the tip of the tree to fully secure it to your car.
Tying Your Tree in Place without Roof Racks
If your vehicle is not equipped with a roof rack, you’ll still be able to get it home without issue. With roof racks, you’ll need to remember to tie down the tree with the doors open, rather than going through the windows. If you’d like to equip your vehicle with a roof rack, our Volkswagen accessories are here to help!

How Often Does My VW Need an Oil Change?

Your Volkswagen’s oil is its lifeblood, and regular oil changes are a necessary part of keeping your vehicle running in tip-top shape for years to come. You may groan as soon as your dashboard’s oil service light pops on, but putting off this particular service can have serious and expensive consequences on your engine and overall vehicle performance. Our Phoenix area Volkswagen service center is here to tell you how often your VW needs an oil change.
Volkswagen Oil Change Service Intervals
Each Volkswagen vehicle has slightly different needs. For a clearer understanding of your Volkswagen’s oil change needs, be sure to check your owner’s manual. For most vehicles, Volkswagen recommends that you receive regular oil changes every 10,000 miles. If you don’t drive very often, at least once every calendar year should do the trick.
If you aren’t sure when the last time you got an oil change was, it’s a good idea to get a fresh one. Once you receive a fresh oil change, you should begin tracking your miles to be sure you don’t miss any oil change intervals. If your oil looks dirty or your Volkswagen isn’t performing like usual or is making strange noises, you should bring your vehicle in to have our certified service professionals take a look.

Reasons Why the ABS Light Can Be On

Understanding Your VW ABS Light Warning
When you slide behind the wheel of your Volkswagen, start the car, and notice the letters “ABS” illuminated on your vehicle’s dashboard, you may have an issue with your vehicle’s anti-lock braking system. Our Peoria Volkswagen service department is here to tell you some reasons why the ABS light can be on.

Why Is My Volkswagen ABS Light On?
When your VW ABS warning light is on, your antilock system has been deactivated due to a malfunction.
Your vehicle’s regular brakes should be working just fine, but the ABS system that prevents your vehicle’s wheels from locking up during braking will not be. If your vehicle is equipped with a stability or traction control system, this feature will be disabled as well.
Each ABS sensor is mounted on each wheel to monitor its speed. If one wheel is turning slower than the other three when you brake, that indicates that it is locking up and may cause skidding and loss of steering control. ABS will usually intervene by rapidly pumping the brakes at the wheel that is locking up, allowing it to spin so that the driver retains braking and steering control.
Here’s what causes your ABS to malfunction:
- A blown fuse for the system
- A wheel-speed sensor that is damaged or covered by road grime
- A broken wire between the sensors and the ABS controller
- An ABS controller that has stopped working

Tips For Getting Your Car Fall Ready

The month of October is full of fun, frights, and plenty of candy for most drivers While you’re trick or treating, it’s important to remember to treat your car as well. October is Fall Car Care month, and it’s the perfect time of year to prep your car for the upcoming months. Peoria drivers know that weather in the Copper State can be unpredictable, and it’s best to plan ahead. Our Volkswagen service department has five car care tips for fall that are sure to keep your vehicle running in tip-top shape.
Check The Hose and Belts
When your Volkswagen’s hose is cracked, frayed or loose, you should set out to replace it immediately. Left unchecked, you may find yourself shelling out more than a few dollars in expensive repairs.
Check The Tires
As one of the most important parts of your Volkswagen, tires see a lot of wear and tear. Check your tire pressure on a weekly basis to ensure that they are fully inflated and free from punctures. Uneven wear may lead to a wheel alignment, and will ultimately affect the performance of your vehicle.
Check The Fluids
If you begin hearing strange noises or notice a shift in performance, you may have low fluid levels. Check your Volkswagen’s engine oil, brake and transmission, power steering, windshield washer solvent, and antifreeze or coolant often to keep your vehicle running at peak performance.
Check Your Lights
The key to safe driving? Seeing and being seen. It’s important to check your vehicle daily to make sure your headlights, taillights, brake lights, and blinkers are working properly. Replace a broken or blown-out bulb if need be.
Check The Battery
It’s important to check your battery for signs of corrosion. You can always schedule a service appointment and bring your Volkswagen in to have your battery checked by our service technicians.

What 2019 Volkswagens Have AWD?

If you’ve been looking for a vehicle that can handle any journey, look no further than a Volkswagen expertly equipped with AWD. You may be asking yourself: what 2019 Volkswagen models are AWD? Our Peoria Volkswagen dealer is here with the information you need to find your perfect Volkswagen vehicle.
What Is Volkswagen’s AWD System?
Volkswagen has its very own AWD system specific to Volkswagen vehicles: 4Motion AWD. What sets 4Motion apart from other AWD systems is the way in which it distributes force intelligently, adjusting the power supplied to each individual wheel. This allows the wheels to maintain an even level of traction across the board, resulting in superior grip and control.
Volkswagen offers a full lineup of AWD SUVs, AWD crossovers, AWD hatchbacks, and an AWD sedan. Each AWD vehicle is more than capable of getting you over rough terrain.
For 2019, six Volkswagen models feature 4Motion all-wheel drive: the Tiguan, Tiguan Limited, Atlas, Golf SportWagen, Golf Alltrack, Golf R, and the Arteon will have AWD available.
AWD is typically not found on compact vehicles such as the Golf R, or wagons like the Golf SportWagen and the Golf Alltrack. That’s what makes Volkswagen’s addition of the feature to these models so exciting. Volkswagen lovers can explore terrain, tackle trails, and so much more behind the wheel of an AWD-equipped vehicle.

If you’re struggling with keeping track of time, it could be the fault of your vehicle’s clock. Our Volkswagen dealership serving Phoenix is here to tell you exactly how to set your Volkswagen clock, and hopefully stay on time.
Steps To Set Your Volkswagen Clock
Drivers often put off setting their vehicle’s clock for a number of reasons. It could be that they forget, or it could be that they just don’t have the time. Perhaps it was never changed when Daylight Savings Time came around. Whatever the reason may be, when it comes time to actually change your clock, you may not remember how to do it.
Adjusting the clock in your Volkswagen is a fairly simple process. Follow these steps to ensure you get the time right:

- Press the menu/clock button again to highlight the minutes and use the “0.0/set” button to advance the minutes forward.

Back to School Carpooling

Summer is winding down, and the school year is starting back up again. If your children don’t use the bus, you most likely drive them to school yourself or have them catch a ride with another parent. When you choose to carpool, you can save a lot of time, money, and even help the environment. Before driving the kids to and from school, make sure your vehicle is prepared with these simple carpooling tips from Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen!
Prep Your VW For a Safe Ride in Peoria
Taking your car in for routine maintenance is a smart first step in preparing your vehicle for back-to-school driving. Typically, carpools require quick trips in heavily trafficked areas and extended idling, which can overwork your vehicle’s engine and potentially lead to unexpected breakdowns.
Keep your VW vehicle in optimum condition throughout the school year by visiting our service center in Peoria for routine maintenance like oil and filter changes.
Prioritize Your Kids’ Safety
When you’re driving, there is nothing more important than the safety of you and your children. Luckily, new car seat options make it easy to ensure that every child is protected in the backseat. It’s also extremely important for drivers to always obey speed limits and instructions from crossing guards and carpool-lane monitors.
Eliminate Distractions
Carpool lanes can often be very busy, so be sure to get rid of any distractions and focus on the task at hand. Leave the radio alone and don’t check your cellphone while navigating the carpool lane.
Get Organized
Meet up with the other parents in your carpool to discuss which route you’ll take, everyone’s scheduling needs, and to establish rules such as timeliness and safety guidelines. Create a contact list of every parent in the carpool in case of an emergency.

Strategizing the back-to-school carpool can be a huge help and with these tips, you’ll be able to start the new school year off on the right foot. For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact our Volkswagen dealership today!
Car Detailing Tips

There’s nothing better than getting behind the wheel of a nice, clean, freshly-detailed vehicle. As you drive down your neighborhood streets, you can revel in the envy of your neighbors. If you’d like to be behind the wheel of the prettiest-looking car in town, you need to detail your vehicle often and well. Our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealership is here with some tips for detailing your car.
Drive Down The Streets Of Phoenix In Your Newly-Detailed Vehicle
If you’re planning on detailing the inside and outside of your vehicle, there are a few helpful tips to ensure you get the most out of the process.
Car Detailing Application
One of the most important aspects of detailing your vehicle is what you apply your products with. While many vinyl protectant products on the market make the job of cleaning and protecting dashboards and other vinyl and plastic panels much easier, applying them can tend to get a little messy. To avoid this issue, professional car detailers use odd-sized sponges to apply cleaners and protectants exactly where your vehicle needs them – and so can you!
What Can You Use To Detail Your Car?
To get the most out of detailing your Volkswagen vehicle, it’s best to purchase several different-sized sponges in varying colors. You can coordinate the colors of your sponges with different cleaning products to ensure there’s no mix-ups or overlap. To easily apply your protectant, you can cut these sponges into smaller pieces to fit the area of application. The protectant or cleaner soaks into the sponge, and can be easily applied around plastic bezels, air vents, and window glass without worrying about overspray.
Ride In Style In Your Detailed Volkswagen
