Are You Looking For A Car For Your New Driver?

If you have a new driver in the family, your main concern is their safety. As a new driver, you’re not as experienced with difficult driving situations; whether it be the weather, terrain, or traffic. As a result, you’ll want a vehicle that’s intuitive and a protector to keep your new driver safe from even unexpected hazards. Volkswagen is a perfect brand to choose for new drivers in Peoria because these vehicles have the technology that will anticipate danger before a driver can sense it, and they are built to protect passengers for the long haul. This year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) identified seven Volkswagen models on its 2018 list of recommended used vehicles for teenage drivers.
Great Volkswagen Vehicles For New Drivers in Peoria
At our Peoria Volkswagen dealership, we offer a wide variety of new and used Volkswagen vehicles that fit different driver needs. Many of our selections are great options for new drivers for their standard safety features and dependability. From the list of recommendations from the IIHS, Volkswagen models we carry all come with standard electronic stability control. The IIHS chose several used Volkswagen models for new drivers in the “Best Choices” category, including: the 2013 Passat and newer and the 2015 Jetta and newer. Vehicles on this list earn good ratings in the IIHS moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests and good or acceptable ratings in the driver-side small overlap front test. If rated by NHTSA, they earn 4 or 5 stars overall or 4 or 5 stars in the front and side tests under the old rating scheme.
In the second category for “Good Choices”, the IIHS also selected several used Volkswagen models. These included the 2009-2012 Passat, the 2009-2014 Jetta, 2009 CC and newer, 2009 Tiguan and newer, and the 2012 Routan. These models earned good ratings in the IIHS moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. If rated by NHTSA, they earn 4 or 5 stars overall or 4 or 5 stars in the front and side tests under the old rating scheme.

Volkswagen Car-Net Mobile App Integrates with Siri

What’s even more fun than a new Volkswagen? One you can talk to.
Among the many great accessories available in the 2019 Volkswagen vehicles here at Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen is VW Car-Net® App-Connect. This clever system lets you get the entertainment, navigation, and communication features you love on your smartphone piped directly into the car’s built-in touchscreen and stereo.
And Car-Net can now integrate with Siri, the voice-assist guide available on Apple smartphones. Drivers can request their favorite songs, ask about the weather, and call their friends without ever removing their hands from the wheel and eyes from the road.

“We are constantly looking at innovative ways to make VW Car-Net more convenient and relevant for our customers,” Abdallah Shanti, EVP, Global Chief Information Officer Volkswagen Brand & Car-IT, said. “With Siri Shortcuts, creating voice commands to use with our mobile app was a great opportunity to do just that!”
And it isn’t just behind the wheel that Siri/Car-Net integration can come in handy. The Car-Net App for your mobile phone allows you to check your car’s location and vitals, or remotely lock, unlock, start, or defrost your vehicle.
On a chilly evening, for example, Volkswagen owners can log into the app on their phone and say “Siri, start my car,” and then tell it to heat the cabin to a certain temperature. Leaving the big game in Glendale and forgotten where you parked? “Siri, where’s my car?”
Owners can also request Siri honk the horn and flash the lights to make finding it easier, or determine whether they should plan to gas up on the drive home by asking Siri what their remaining fuel range is.
Users can even personalize their Siri commands for different functions for optimal convenience. So if you’re in the market for a new car that’s fun to drive–and easy to talk to–look no further than a 2019 Volkswagen. You can contact us online or give our Glendale area dealer a call at 602-714-3968 to find the best time for a test drive. We’ve been serving the region for over 15 years, and we can’t wait to show you what these great Volkswagen autos have to offer.

What Does My Indicator Light Mean

If you’ve ever been driving to work or on a road trip and had a dashboard light come up, you know how inconvenient and nerve-wracking it can be to deal with what seems like an issue with your car. Especially if you don’t know what these signals mean and they appear in many different colors, it can be confusing to sort out what your car needs when you’re busy navigating the road. That’s why our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealership has a list of all the possible indicators that exist on the Volkswagen dashboard in the event that one lights up unexpectedly.
Since it can be difficult to try to decipher what each indicator means while you’re on the road, we’ve outlined what to expect from your vehicle when you see each signal. Importantly, drivers should recognize when an indicator is red or amber in color, since this means there is a critical problem with your vehicle. However, blue or green lights are informational and are simply illuminated to let the driver know a particular system is in use. If you see a red or amber light on the dashboard, it would be a good idea to bring your Volkswagen in to our Volkswagen service center near Phoenix to check for a problem.

How to Tie Down a Christmas Tree to Your Car

It’s the holiday season and with it comes traditions like picking out your own Christmas tree. Once you’ve found the perfect tree all that’s left is to get it home safely, but that can be easier said than done. Luckily our Peoria Volkswagen dealer has plenty of tips and tricks you can use to safely tie your Christmas tree to your car.
1. Measure: Before heading out, measure the height of the room where you plant to display to tree to make sure it will fit. Most tree toppers add quite a bit of height to so ensure there is at least six inches of clearance between the ceiling and the top of the tree.
2. Protect Your Car and Tree: Lay a blanket down on the roof or bed of your ride to protect your car from scratches and make tree needle cleanup easier. It’s also a good idea to wrap your tree up before tying it down to your car; most Christmas tree farms provide netting but if you happen to go to one that doesn’t, an old blanket or tarp will do the job.
3. Position the Tree: The tree should be in its most aerodynamic position, which is the trunk facing toward the front of the car. This helps prevent wind damage to the tree and ensures you won’t lose as many needles on the way home.
4. Tying it in Place with Roof Racks: If your car has a roof rack, you’re first step is to open all your car doors; if you try to tie the tree down through the windows you won’t be able to open your car doors. Next, tie a piece of rope to one side of the roof rack and stretch it across the tree, stopping to wrap the line around the trunk a couple times. Tie the rope off to the roof rack on the other side of the car to secure it in place. Repeat this process at the middle and near the top of the tree to fully secure it to your ride and prevent the tree from sliding around.
5. Tying it in Place Without Roof Racks: If your ride doesn’t have roof racks, you can still get your tree home safely with some maneuvering. As with roof racks, remember to tie down the tree with the doors open instead of going through the windows. Follow the same instructions as above but use a heavier gauge rope so as to not cut into your car door weather stripping and keep your tree securely in place.
Wherever you get your Christmas tree from, these tips can help you transport your new holiday fir without risking life, limb, or damage to your vehicle. For more information on all your Volkswagen can handle or to find the right ride this holiday season, be sure to contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen by calling (844) 285-4840 today!

While your Volkswagen key fob is built to last a long time like its many other carefully-crafted parts, the key fob can occasionally wear out after long term use. This can make it difficult to access your car when you’re on the go and ready to leap into the driver’s seat. That’s why our Volkswagen dealership near Glendale is here to help you figure out how to unlock your Volkswagen with a dead key fob, so you can get where you need to go. There are three different ways to get into your Volkswagen depending on the model, so you have multiple options to choose.
On Models With a Lock Cylinder Cap
Since some Volkswagen models have a protective cover over the lock cylinder where the key fits on the door handle, it can be hard to figure out how to enter the vehicle. We suggest that you place your key under the notch at the bottom of the cylinder, so you can pop off the cover. This way you can properly unlock the handle.
Volkswagen CC & Touareg Models
On Volkswagen CC and Touareg models, you must access the emergency key inside of the fob. On these models, there is no bayonet key. Press the button on the side of the fob and the emergency key will peek through, then pull the key ring loop to get it out and unlock the door. To start the car, you must place the full key fob in the ignition slot.
Other Models With Keyless Access
If your key’s battery is on low power and the push-button start isn’t working, hold the key fob against the steering column. Then, press the start button by your shift knob. If this still doesn’t work, or you prefer to have a professional take a look, visit our Volkswagen service center near Glendale for further help!

Car Cleaning Hacks

Cleaning can be a hassle, but it’s necessary to keep your car running as it should. If you have lots of junk inside your car or grit accumulated on the outside, it could alter how you handle the vehicle. That’s why our Peoria Volkswagen dealer wants to make sure that you keep your Volkswagen clean so that you don’t run into any serious complications down the road. While cleaning is certainly no fun, there are ways to make it easier. We’re sharing a series of easy hacks to cleaning your car so that the task doesn’t have to be such a chore.
Use Olive Oil On Your Dashboard
One great trick to avoid buying expensive cleaners, is to use a little olive oil on your dashboard. The oil keeps it shiny and new when you rub it into the dash, since it moisturizes it and preserves it.
Use Cupcake Liners to Keep Your Cupholders Clean
It’s common to fill your cupholders with random items when you’re constantly in a rush to get to your next destination. Placing cupcake liners in your cupholders keep you more aware of what you leave in them, and it also prevents items from leaving residue and sticky substances in the cupholders when you go to use them for a new item.
Use Dryer Sheets to De-Bug Your Car
You’ll often see and hear the sign of bugs having hit your car when you were driving. When you inspect the outside of your Volkswagen, you’ll find the resulting bugs from your drive around Peoria. To keep your Volkswagen looking clean and bug-free, use dryer sheets to remove the bug residue.
Use Your Toothbrush and Toothpaste to Clean Your Headlights
Another lesser known use for your toothbrush and toothpaste is using them to clean your car, specifically, your headlights. This means you can scrub your headlights with a rag and toothpaste to make your headlights crystal clear for great visibility, and use your toothbrush if you want to get all of the grooves and crevices.
Use Your Make-Up Brush to Clean Your Vents
Since your air vents can get pretty dusty, you’ll want a small but fluffy item to get in between the vents to clean them. Your make-up brush is perfect for this.

Best Tailgating Food Recipes

Are you interested in tailgating in your Volkswagen in Peoria? This football season is a great time to get creative with new tailgating recipes. Whether it be at one of Arizona State University’s football games, or another team of your choosing, it’s time that you’re prepared for the tailgate with the food and drink that’ll get everyone pumped for the game. We love to see our local drivers making good use of their Volkswagen vehicles, and we have some helpful tips for preparing great recipes to enjoy the tailgate even more.
Savory Potato Salad
A savory potato salad is sure to please all of your hungry football fanatics. This version uses a lemon-and-oil based dressing instead of a mayo dressing. Toss the potatoes in the dressing while they’re still hot, use a Microplane-style grater to create a smooth garlic pulp.
Cinnamon Spiced Nuts
Ignore the conventional call for salty chips at a tailgate, and go for a sweet, crunchy taste instead. This nut mix is gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.
Habanero Apricot Chicken Sandwiches
This hot and flavorful option is a great choice to spice up the game for our Peoria Volkswagen dealership customers who are tailgating an Arizona State University game.
Quick Green Chicken Chili
One great option that’s quick and easy is a quick green chicken chilli, keeping it simple with Great Northern beans as the main bean. Use precooked rotisserie chicken to speed up the cooking process, and combine with half blended and half unblended beans. Top with either creamy sour cream, diced tomato, cilantro, or sliced jalapeños.
Slow Cooker Bourbon-Peach Baked Beans
Skip canned baked beans in favor of a hassle-free version. Adobo sauce and bacon build a smoky backbone, contrasting well with sweet peaches.
Creamy Black Pepper Coleslaw
Another great staple at a tailgate is coleslaw, but this one offers a kick with black pepper and you can make it the day before!

How to Replace the Battery in Your Key Fob

Occasionally your key fob battery might run out of battery as any well-used machine might, and it’ll be time to replace it. While this might seem like a hassle, Volkswagen crafts their vehicles with quality parts that are easy to repair. As a result, it’s easier than you think to replace the key fob battery yourself if you’d rather save some time. Our Peoria Volkswagen dealership wants nothing more than for our customers to have a great on-the-road experience, so we’re offering some tips to replace the key fob battery yourself.
Easy Steps to Replace Your Key Fob Battery in Peoria
If your key fob is no longer working, it’s most likely that the battery has died. To replace it, start by opening the key by pushing the metal button on the key fob. Then you’ll want to hold the fob with the “VW” on top. You’ll see that the key is split into two, and the side that is opposite of the logo should open with either your fingers or a screwdriver. When you remove the top, use a flat tool to remove the batteries. You’ll want to replace the battery with a “CR2032” battery with the + side facing downwards.
If you find that replacing the battery is more difficult than you had thought, or your key fob still isn’t working once you replace the battery, you should visit our Volkswagen service center in Peoria. Our helpful technicians are here for anything you need, whether it be your car parts like your key fob, or more serious auto repairs. We perform oil changes, brake checks, and many more regular maintenance checks so your vehicle is always running as it should.
