Arizona summers can be pretty hot. In fact, the Grand Canyon State can get pretty warm all year-round. At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, we’ve got five tips for beating the heat this summer (and all year-round) in Arizona.
Avoid the Sun & When You Can’t, Wear Sunscreen
This is probably the most obvious tip. The only way to avoid the heat is to stay out of the sun. But of course, we’re not suggesting that you spend your entire summer inside. When you do venture out into Arizona’s unforgiving sun, be sure to put on lots of sunscreen to protect your skin! There’s nothing worse than sunburn!
Drink Lots of Water
Another obvious tip. Be sure to drink lots of it throughout the day—this is important always, but especially during the summertime. And don’t just drink it, play in it; take a dip in the pool, spray yourself with a hose, etc.
Be Mindful of What You Touch
You’ve probably heard your parents say it while you were growing up, and it still rings true: think before you touch! Surfaces that sit in the sun can get really hot—hot enough to burn! Use pot holders to open doors, carry a towel to place on hot car seats, keep the curtains pulled shut to block out the sun.
Sleep Outside
This tip is for the adventurous type. Set up beds on the porch or in the backyard, or sleep in the shade during the heat of the day.
Keep Your Car Cool
Though they may look kind of silly, those windshield reflectors should be your friend! They work well to keep the car cool while it’s parked. It’s also important to stay up-to-date on any maintenance that your vehicle may need to ensure that you don’t get stuck without air conditioning in your vehicle. That’s where Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen’s service center comes in! We can take care of any maintenance your vehicle may need.
