Football season is just around the corner. As you anticipate watching the first Cardinals game of the season, our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealership has some great tailgating tips for your next parking lot party!

Become a Cooler-packing Expert
At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, we understand how frustrating it can be to pack a cooler for your tailgating shindig. You want to make sure that everything stays cold—and fits! But packing the cooler doesn’t have to be as confusing as a game of Tetris; with these helpful hints, you’ll be packing a cooler like a pro in no time. Before you begin, make sure everything, especially perishable foods and beverages are chilled—nobody likes warm beer. Put the cans and bottles at the bottom of the cooler—this will help to keep them cooler for a longer period of time. Next, add a layer of ice to cover the drinks—allowing the ice to fall between any crevices. Next, add any food containers, and finish it off with another layer of ice. All Volkswagen models offer plenty of trunk space, so there’s no reason why you should have to leave your cooler behind!

Grab the Toolbox
A toolbox may seem like a weird must-have item for a tailgating part, but trust us; a toolbox is actually the perfect carrying case for BBQ essentials. The main compartment can fit spatulas, bottle openers, tongs, can openers, and skewers. The middle compartment can hold trash bags, paper towels, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and much more. Finally, in the bottom drawer, you can pack your favorite condiments, spices, and seasonings!
Slice Burger Toppings In Advance
Slicing and packing up burger toppings in advance means that you’ll have less work to do later on and allows you more time for fun. Plus, it offers an easier way to transport everything in one convenient container. Not to mention, showing up to the parking lot shindig with pre-sliced burger toppings will surely impress!
To learn more about how to make the most of out your next tailgating party as you root on the Arizona Cardinals, contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen at (602) 714-3968.
Summer has flown by, and many of us are gearing up to send the kids back to school. Especially during this time of year, the roads can get busy—between school buses and children walking to school, so it’s important to be an alert driver. At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealer, we’ve got a few tips to help you and your little ones stay safe while heading back to school.

You’ve probably noticed school zones around your children’s schools. These school zones are meant to keep kids safe as they arrive and leave school, but many times, they pose a risk for both pedestrians and motorists. Though it may be hard to believe, many drivers fail to stop or slow down in or near school zones—even with a crossing guard present. The most dangerous time for school zones are during the after-school period between 3 and 4pm. In fact, more school-aged pedestrians are killed by motorists during that time than any other time of day.
We can prevent these injuries and deaths in school zones by teaching our children how to safely cross the street and making sure that we’re alert when behind the wheel. It’s important for Phoenix area Volkswagen drivers to understand that the majority of people walking in the school zone probably don’t know the laws, and so it’s our duty to keep an eye out for all pedestrians—especially younger ones who may be distracted by their iPods or iPhones.

Here are a few ways that we can keep everybody safe during the school year:
Stop properly at stop signs and crosswalks
It’s illegal to pass through either a stationary stop sign or one held by a crossing guard or other safety representative.
Wait your turn near school buses
In all 50 states, it’s illegal to pass a bus on undivided roadways if it’s stopped to load and unload children. Be sure you know the rules in your state, and never pass a school bus on the right.
Pay attention to bus warning lights
A yellow flashing light means the bus is preparing to stop to let kids off. A red light means that kids are currently getting on or off the bus.
To learn more about how you can do your part to keep the roads safe during the school year, contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen at (602) 714-3968.
It may seem obvious and something that shouldn’t have to be said, but the truth of the matter is that ever since Pokemon Go came onto the scene, people need to be reminded that it’s not a good idea to play while behind the wheel. At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, our VW dealer in Peoria, we think it’s important to remind people of the dangers of using your smartphone while driving—especially to play Pokemon Go.

The smartphone mobile-app-based-video-game phenomena has been taking the world by storm since its release. While it’s certainly got people to be active, it’s only a matter of time before we start to hear about Pokemon Go-related auto accidents. In fact, many cities throughout the U.S. have warned its drivers about Pokemon-ing behind the wheel.
Don’t Pokemon & Drive
Though Peoria VW drivers may already be aware, the dangers of distracted driving are plentiful. The prospect of drivers playing Pokemon Go while behind the wheel only adds yet another type of distracted driving to the bunch. Thousands of driving fatalities and hundreds of thousands of injuries are attributed to distracted driving annually. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 10-percent of all drivers age 15 to 19 involved in fatal crashes in 2014 were distracted at the time, while drivers in their 20s represent 27-percent of distracted drivers and 38-percent of distracted drivers using smartphones at the time of a fatal crash.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, “Five seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling at 55 MPH, that’s enough time to cover the length of a football field blindfolded.”
Keep yourself, your passengers, and fellow drivers safe by saving the Pokemon Go-playing for when you’re on-foot. To learn more about how to stay safe on the road, contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen at (602) 714-3968. To keep yourself safe from fellow drivers that fail to heed this warning, check out our lineup of safe and reliable Volkswagen models today!
Summer has only just begun, but the temperatures in Arizona have been rapidly climbing; in fact, things have gotten so hot in AZ that people have been able to cook eggs in the street! In recent days, temperatures have leapt as high as 118 degrees, breaking a record of 115 set nearly 50 years ago! Temperatures like the ones we’ve been experiencing can be very dangerous if you don’t take the proper precautions.
Our Peoria VW dealer think it’s very important for people to know how to recognize symptoms of heat-related illnesses so that they can take care of themselves and their loved ones.
Symptoms of Heat Exhaustion:
- Heavy sweating
- Weakness
- Cold, pale, and clammy skin
- Fast, weak pulse
- Nausea or vomiting
- Fainting
There are many ways to combat heat exhaustion if you notice any of these symptoms. Our Volkswagen dealership in Peoria first suggests moving to a cooler location. Lie down and loosen your clothing. Sip some water and apply cool, wet cloths to as much of your body as possible. If you’ve vomited and it continues, we highly suggest seeking medical attention as soon as possible.
Symptoms of Heat Stroke:
- High body temperature (above 103-degrees)
- Hot, red, dry, or moist skin
- Rapid and strong pulse
- Possible unconsciousness
If you’ve noticed any of these heat stroke symptoms, you should call 911 immediately; a heat stroke is a medical emergency! Move to a cooler environment and try to reduce your body temperature by applying cool cloths or sitting in a cool bath.

Along with keeping yourself and your family cool and safe during these dangerous weather conditions, don’t forget about your furry friends! Make sure your pets have plenty of water, and even give them some time to splash around in a cool pool or bath—or apply cool, wet cloths to help keep them comfortable and out of harm’s way.

Ah, Spring-Training.
That magical time of the year when half of Major League Baseball descends upon Arizona for a month of non-stop ball-throwin’, bat-swingin’ action. As we’re sure our knowledgeable Peoria Volkswagen customers know, the Peoria Sports Complex is hosting the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres this year. If you’re a fan of baseball, there is no better place to do recon for your fantasy team.
But if you’re not a fan of baseball, this post is for you. Everyone has a friend or relative who’s going to try to bring you along to one of these games. They might even be coming in from out of town to do so. We here at Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen care about all our customers, so we’ve put together a list of suggestions for enjoying baseball games you might not be interested in.
Peruse the food and drink selection
It’s not just peanuts and cracker jacks in this ball park. Vendors are waiting inside to dish out everything from Gyros to BBQ, and there’s no shortage of drink selection to rinse your food down. Have a look!
Fill out a scorecard
If you really don’t like baseball, then this option may not be for you; however, if you’re someone who likes sports but has trouble staying focused on the game, this could be just the trick you need to get hooked.

Soak up the culture
Get yourself a foot-long, peanuts, and cracker jacks. Figure out who most of the crowd is rooting for and cheer them on enthusiastically. Boo the other team with equal enthusiasm. Or, if you’re a rabble rouser, do the opposite—just don’t blame us here at the Volkswagen dealership in Peoria for whatever happens if you choose to do that.
Make it your goal to start the wave
There’s a science to starting the wave. You can’t start it when the game’s tense, because the audience is too focused. You can’t start it when your team is down by a lot, because the audience is depressed. You never do it during the visitors half of the inning. You have to read the crowd, and wait until they’re ready. When they are, wave away!
After the game, come visit us at Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen. We have some great vehicles, and we’re only five minutes down the road from the Peoria Sports Complex. We look forward to showing you around!
Volkswagen walked away from Engadget‘s Best of CES awards in Las Vegas, NV this past January with a “Best Innovation” award for the German manufacturer’s new BUDD-e concept car. This award just further underscores the legendary reputation of Volkswagen for creativity and pushing the envelope.

The BUDD-e is a concept car built on the new Volkswagen Modular Electric Platform, or MEB. This platform boasts a zero-emission drivetrain that Volkswagen claims will be able to carry drivers up to 233 miles on a single charge by the time it’s ready for release to the public; making it comparable to most of the gas-powered cars you’ll find in our Phoenix area Volkswagen showrooms today—but that’s not all. The BUDD-e is capable of charging up to 80 percent capacity in as little as 15-30 minutes. These features both work to make the BUDD-e a breakthrough in electric vehicle technology.
But How Does it Do it?
The revolutionary Volkswagen MEB platform features a huge 101 kilowatt-hour battery pack that underlays almost the entire floor of the vehicle. This new design feature saves room for the BUDD-e’s engine, and more importantly, saves room for you and your cargo inside the vehicle.
Speaking of the Inside of the Vehicle…
The BUDD-e is set to unveil a host of new human-machine interface functions. Imagine sitting in traffic in your VW outside Phoenix, and adjusting your air conditioning at home in Peoria. The BUDD-e aims to blend Smart Car and Smart Home technology to create a one-stop-interface for all your technological needs.

Remember When It Was as Easy as the Push of a Button?
Well now it’s easier. BUDD-e is equipped with Gesture Control 2.0, which is programmed to enable a series of intuitive operations for both internal and external vehicle functions. Strategically positioned cameras are used to pick up on passenger’s movements and react by, say, opening a sliding rear door. How’s that for convenience?
While we wait for the BUDD-e to become available, Volkswagen fans near Phoenix can contact us to browse the fantastic selection of vehicles currently available in our showroom.
