Oil changes are probably the most important routine maintenance service. Oil works as a lubricant for your vehicle’s engine; it protects the engine’s myriad of moving parts. Engine oil helps to keep the engine clean and cool, so that it can continue working properly. Over time, though, that engine oil can become dirty, so it’s important to change it regularly. Luckily, the friendly and knowledge staff at our state-of-the-art service facility can provide you with a VW oil change in Peoria–using high-grade filters and top quality synthetic oil.
Regular Maintenance Will Keep Your VW Running
Along with taking care of your car underneath the hood, it’s important to take care of your vehicle’s exterior as well. Washing and waxing your vehicle is about more than just aesthetics. Regular washes and waxes help to protect your vehicle’s exterior and paint job from damaging elements, like UV rays from the sun. The sun is very strong here in Arizona and our climate includes damaging debris like dust; regular washings and waxings will help to keep your Volkswagen’s style as vibrant as the first day you drove it off the lot!

How Often Should I Wax My Car?
A car is an investment, and you want to do everything you can to preserve that investment. Along with taking care of the mechanical aspects of your vehicle by staying on top of routine maintenance, it’s just as important to make sure that you take care of the vehicle’s aesthetics. Taking care of your vehicle’s exterior goes beyond getting a car wash every now and then.

At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, we recommended getting your car waxed regularly if you want to protect its paintjob. If your car is generally parked in a garage or other shelter, our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealership recommended getting it waxed about twice it year. However, if your car is frequently subjected to the elements, it should be waxed every three to four months.
Along with giving the exterior a shiny glow, wax adds an extra layer of protection against harsh weather, salt, bird droppings, tree sap, UV rays, and other crud that can end up on your vehicle. Failing to wax your car regularly allows these corrosive substances to damage the clear coat—the finish that seals the paint; as a result, the paint is exposed.
Regular Waxes Help to Protect Your VW from UV Rays in Phoenix
Of course, frequent car washes will help to rid your car of the majority of these pesky corrosive substances, but some require a bit more elbow grease to remove. Whether you take care of it yourself or hire someone else to do it, thoroughly cleaning the exterior of your vehicle and applying a good-quality wax coating at least twice a year can keep your paint finish looking as good as new for years to come.
If your car needs up-keep beyond a car wash and waxing, you can bring it in to our Volkswagen service center serving Phoenix. When your vehicle is in need a maintenance, having a VW service center that you can trust is key. At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, our service department features VW-certified technicians that have the training and tools required to provide you with quality service. Whether your car is in need of routine maintenance like an oil change, or major repairs, you can trust that the health of your vehicle will be taken care of at our dealership.
To learn more about how to protect the exterior of your vehicle, contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen at (602) 714-3968.
It’s recommended that your car’s tires be rotated every time you bring it in for an oil change. In the majority of cases, this means about every 7,500-miles or six-months. Why are regular tire rotations so important? The service experts at our Phoenix area VW dealership lays down the facts.
Tires are any vehicle perform extra duty because they apply the power to the pavement. On front-wheel drive vehicles, that power is amplified by the weight of the engine and transmission—since the front tire do most of the work in turns. Rotating your vehicle’s tires between the front and rear of your vehicle a couple of times per year helps to spread out the burden, so that all of the tires wear evenly.
When is It Time to Rotate Your Tires?
You can’t rely on sight alone to tell if it’s time to get your car’s tires rotated, so it’s important to make sure that you’re following a regular schedule. This will help your tires to wear evenly and last longer. Doing whatever you can to make sure that your vehicle’s tires last as long as they can is important, as tires are pricey.
How Often Should You Rotate Your Tires?
As previously mentioned, most automakers recommend getting a tire rotation every time you get an oil change however; a good guideline is every 6,000-miles or every six-months.
Why Are Regular Tire Rotations Important?
Regular tire rotations help your car’s tires to wear evenly and last longer and as a result, help you to save money because you won’t need to purchase new tires as often.
If, after reading this, you’ve decided that your car is due for a tire rotation, the highly skilled service technicians at our Volkswagen service center near Phoenix can help! Our state-of-the-art service facility offers top-of-the-line care to our customers—with over 120 years of experience, thousands of hours of training, and the special tools and equipment that’s been created especially for servicing Volkswagen models.

What’s Causing That Smell?
If your vehicle is giving off an unusual odor instead of that new car smell, it could lead to an expensive repair or health hazard so it’s important to follow your nose. At our Peoria Volkswagen dealer, we’ve got a list of common odors and their possible causes.
Sweet
Antifreeze has a sweet, syrupy odor and if you’re smelling it inside your car, it usually means that there’s a leak somewhere in the cooling system. The source may not be easy to see; it could be from a corroded heat exchanger or in the form of steam that enters the cabin and fogs the windows. If you notice this sweet smell, have it addressed because breathing in antifreeze is a health hazard.
Musty
If you notice a musty smell when you turn on the air conditioning, mold or mildew has probably formed in the air conditioning system. Moisture naturally collects on the evaporator, but running the fan at high-speed with the AC turned off can dry the evaporator. If the problem persists, it could be a result of a clog in the drain tube; if that’s the case, bring your car in to our service center and let our service technicians take a look!
Electrical
Have you noticed a burnt toast smell? That could indicate a short circuit in an electrical component or overheated insulation. You should always take electrical odors seriously, as short circuits and overheated components are common sources of fire.
Burning
A burning smell could indicate that oil is oozing onto a hot part of the engine or exhaust system. It could also be a result of overheated brake pads or rotors—due to aggressive braking. On a vehicle that features a manual transmission, the clutch plate could be worn or overheating from riding the clutch pedal. Leave or other debris in the engine compartment can also burn on hot surfaces.
Rubber
The smell of burning rubber could mean that the accessory drive belt is slipping or getting chewed up by a broken pulley or hose rubbing against a moving part. In addition, an overheated clutch plate could also produce a burnt rubber smell.
Rotten Eggs
If you smell rotten eggs or sulfur, your car’s catalytic converter may have gone bad. This could mean that the engine or emissions system has made the converter overheat.
Gas
When a cold engine is first started, it’s normal to smell a little gas, but if you continue to smell gas after the engine is warm, the gas cap could be loose or the evaporative emissions control system could be leaking or clogged. The evaporative emissions control system is supposed to contain the fuel vapors and recycle them through the engine. The smell of gas could also indicate that gas is leaking from the tank or another part of the fuel system; always investigate gas smells when your car is parked before starting the car.
If you’ve noticed a curious scent in your vehicle, bring it in to our Peoria Volkswagen service center and our highly skilled technicians will check it out and make sure that everything is safe!
