Do I Need a Tune-up?

Your car has always taken you where you needed to go; through long journeys and fun adventures, you’ve accumulated many miles and many memories. However, just like you, your car can go through a lot of changes over the years, so it’s important to keep an eye on how it functions. If you’re noticing some unusual differences in how your car works, it might be time to get a tune-up. Our Avondale area Volkswagen dealership has years of experience with different car maintenance services to preserve the integrity of your ride. Our team offers some tips to know when it’s time to come in for a tune-up.

Getting Fewer Miles Out of a Gallon of Gas

It’s important to notice if you’re getting fewer gas miles than you once did out of a gallon of gas, as this can indicate that you may need to refresh different car parts. Our Avondale area team would be happy to pair drivers with the appropriate Volkswagen service and parts specials to keep both wallets and cars happy. Fuel economy can also be affected by cold weather, but we can help you distinguish what you need.

A Misfiring Engine

This happens when spark plugs ignite at the wrong time, which can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs. Faulty spark plugs can lead to low fuel economy, hard starting, and sluggish acceleration. However, most spark plugs last 100,000 miles or more, so this might not be the cause.

A Dirty or Clogged Engine Air Filter

This is more likely to minimize acceleration than fuel economy. Since air filters become clogged slowly, you might not notice any changes until your car is accelerating very slowly.

An Illuminated Check Engine Light

This signals that something is wrong in the emissions control system, but it could also affect fuel economy or engine performance, so be sure to visit our dealership to get it checked out.

An Old Oxygen Sensor (90,000 miles or more)

A faulty oxygen sensor fails to signal the engine computer how to set the air-fuel mixture, which can reduce fuel economy. Engine performance can also be affected by valves that don’t seat properly or by restrictions in the exhaust system.

Cars, by their very nature, tend to make noise when in use. We take many of these sounds in stride and let them blend into the backdrop of driving. But what about when a new noise pops up?

Squeaking, squealing, or grinding when braking is–you guessed it–typically caused by your brakes. The sooner you address this one, the less damage is done to your brakes and rotors.

If you’ve got a hissing sound, this is typically some kind of leak. Whether it’s a faulty hose or coolant escaping under pressure, it’s important to get to the bottom of things before the problem worsens.

Unexpected noises almost always denote trouble, but the best thing you can do for your vehicle is to have the problems diagnosed and corrected sooner than later. At the first sign of trouble, be sure to contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen by calling (602) 714-3968 to schedule a service appointment!

Here at our Avondale area Volkswagen showroom, the automaker’s future-focused approach to engineering is one of the key factors that makes us to excited to offer VW vehicles. From advanced infotainment systems to upcoming electric vehicles, Volkswagen is always working to push the envelope when it comes to what’s available for modern motorists.

As automated vehicles become more realistic and driver assist technologies become more common, Volkswagen is certainly eager to take advantage of the potential benefits that come with artificial intelligence on the road. That’s what sets the latest Volkswagen vehicles at our Avondale area dealership apart.

Volkswagen ID BUZZ concept

The automaker is currently working with NVIDIA to develop new co-pilot technologies. Volkswagen CEO Dr. Herbert Diess and NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang recently spoke at the 2018 International CES, showcasing how these features will come into play with the reimagined electric Volkswagen MicroBus, currently in development as the I.D. BUZZ concept.

A Smarter Tomorrow

As Dr. Diess put it, “Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the car. Autonomous driving, zero tailpipe emission mobility and digital networking are virtually impossible without advances in AI and deep learning. Combining the imagination of Volkswagen with NVIDIA, the leader in AI technology, enables us to take a big step into the future.”

Huang expanded on that, adding, “In just a few years, every new vehicle should have AI assistants for voice, gesture and facial recognition as well as augmented reality. Working with Volkswagen, we are creating a new generation of cars that are safer, more enjoyable to ride in than anything that has come before, and accessible to everyone.”

This technology focuses on “Intelligent Co-Pilot” capabilities, ranging from convenience and driver assistance systems to an interface that learns more about potential situations as it experiences and interacts with more scenarios on the road.

A healthy transmission keeps things running smoothly under the hood–literally. Your transmission controls the way that your vehicle shifts gears, and a faulty automatic transmission can cause your car to hesitate, slip gears, or shift less smoothly.

The experts at our Peoria service center can always spot a faulty transmission, but they also know that these symptoms can be caused by low or burned out transmission fluid. So, how do you tell the difference?

Volkswagen maintenance in Peoria

Start by checking your transmission fluid! While the car is warm, pull out the transmission dipstick and dab the fluid onto your finger. It should be pink or red in color, and feel smooth when you rub it between your fingers; if it’s a dirty brown color or feels gritty, your fluid needs to be flushed and replaced. Give it a quick sniff, as well, to see if it smells burned; this is another symptom of fluid that needs to be replaced.

Routine vehicle maintenance in Peoria

If the fluid seems good to go, then wipe off the dipstick, replace it, and pull it out again. This time, check if the fluid is between the minimum and maximum marks. It’s important to wipe and replace the dipstick, as sloshing around when the engine is running can give you a false reading. If it’s low, use a funnel to add more until it’s full. Be sure to add the right fluid, and add it gradually as not to overfill it.

The Importance of Flushing Your Transmission at Our Peoria Service Center

Topping off the transmission at home is easy, as long as you check the manual and are careful to use the proper fluid. Replacing the fluid when it’s worn out, though, is much trickier. At home, you can only remove the pan and drain a small portion of the fluid. At our Peoria vehicle maintenance center, though, we can drain the fluid completely and flush the system to remove any particulates that could contaminate new fluid.

If your fluid is due to be changed, or if your vehicle just isn’t shifting as smoothly as it ought to be, then it’s time to have your transmission checked by a professional. Be sure to contact the experts at Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen to schedule a visit by calling (602) 714-3968 today.

It may feel like it was just yesterday that we flipped our calendars to 2018, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start looking ahead to the future! While we’re only a couple of months into the year, the team at our Volkswagen showroom serving Phoenix is already looking forward to the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta.

2019 Volkswagen Jetta exterior

The Jetta is an enormously popular nameplate, so it should come as no surprise that we’re very excited to get a glimpse of the all-new 2019 model. We’re confident that our customers will be, too!

An All-New Take on an All-Time Favorite

When the 2019 Jetta debuted at the North American International Auto Show earlier this year, we got a great look at what to expect from the all-new model. We can’t begin to say how excited we are to be adding this new Volkswagen Jetta to the lineup at our Phoenix area dealership later this year.

With an all new exterior design, a sprawling range of interior options, and a 1.4L TSI engine under the hood, the 2019 Jetta is shaping up to be one of our favorite Volkswagen models yet. We’re particularly drawn by the available 10-color ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated leather seats, and 400-watt BeatsAudio® system.

Volkswagen I.D. Crozz electric vehicle concept

As automakers continue to work toward a greener tomorrow, Volkswagen has committed to leading the way in electric mobility. This is the drive behind the automaker’s upcoming next-generation electric vehicles, which will be led by the arrival of an all-new electric SUV in 2020.

An All-New Electric Electric UV

This upcoming SUV gives drivers a lot to look forward too, in terms of both style and performance. Based on the I.D. CROZZ concept vehicle, this compact SUV will feature an all-electric powertrain to our Peoria Volkswagen showroom that provides the green performance drivers have been eager to enjoy.

The I.D. CROZZ concept shells out an impressive 302 horsepower and features an all-wheel drive system, leaving no lack in terms of performance and capability. Even so, it still has an anticipated range of up to 300 miles on a single charge.

“The I.D. CROZZ-based electric vehicle will be an affordable and stylish electric SUV—and there is more to come!” said Hinrich J. Woebcken, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America. “The I.D. CROZZ and the I.D. BUZZ will help Volkswagen to kick off an EV revolution in the United States. All of our I.D. concept cars demonstrate the inherent flexibility, driving range and smart design that can serve the needs of 21st century drivers.”

When you push the brake pedal in your vehicle, you take it for granted that the brakes will respond and slow your vehicle down so that you can come to a safe stop. While this necessary function is easy to take for granted, there are actually many components that work together to make this happen.

Peoria Volkswagen maintenance

At our Peoria Volkswagen service center, we’re well versed in every aspect of the braking process, including the fluid your vehicle uses to create pressure and control your brakes. Without enough good, clean brake fluid, your vehicle will brake less responsively or, worse, fail to stop at all.

As a vehicle owner, it’s a good idea to get in the habit of checking your brake fluid. The reservoir is typically small and translucent; it should be clearly labeled, if you have any doubt. It should also have markings for minimum and maximum levels. Your fluid should be between these levels.

Volkswagen brake service in Peoria

If the fluid is too low but you can still see it in the reservoir, top it off with the appropriate brake fluid from a fresh container. If it’s below the reservoir, though, you risk air bubbles if you simply top it off. Similarly, if the fluid appears dirty or discolored–it should be clear or translucent–then you need to have your system flushed.

The Importance of Professional Technicians

It’s certainly important to maintain your brake fluid, and our Peoria team can help. In fact, it’s typically in your best interest to drop in for professional service when it comes to brake fluid.

Brake fluid is hydrophilic, which means it will absorb water from the environment; using brake fluid that has been left open can let water into your system. Water both freezes and boils more easily than brake fluid, which can lead to system failure. The same is true if you accidentally get air bubbles into the brake line.

To ensure that your vehicle’s brake fluid is flushed or filled properly, just schedule a service appointment with our experts. To learn more, be sure to contact us online or to call the Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen team at (602) 714-3968 today!

Our team has fallen head over heels for the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas since is arrived in our Peoria showroom last year, and so have our customers! Considering how much love everyone seems to have for this full-size SUV, we certainly wouldn’t mind seeing the Atlas family grow–and it seems like we might be getting our wish.

While we don’t have a whole lot to on, we’re not just speculating, either; Hinrich Woebcken, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America’s North American Region, recently suggested that the “Atlas family” might be growing soon. During an event for the upcoming seventh generation Volkswagen Jetta, Woebcken alluded to plans to expand the Atlas nameplate with a volume-selling B-segment entry.

2018 Volkswagen Atlas for sale in Peoria

Woebcken also stated during this year’s New York Auto Show that Volkswagen has plans to produce a five-seat SUV at its Chattanooga, TN, plant, although there’s no confirmation of the vehicle’s nameplate. Needless to say, this is exciting news for the team at our Peoria Volkswagen dealership.

This might be the only official indication we have of the automaker’s plans right now, but other unofficial evidence has us pretty excited. As reported by Autolog, Volkswagen has recently filed trademark paperwork for a number of names, including “Atlas Cross Sport” and “Atlas Allsport.”

Building on a Strong Foundation

Of course, it goes without saying that we’d be thrilled to see the Atlas nameplate expand into a family of vehicles. Given how tremendous the debut of the 2018 Atlas has been, we can only imagine how exciting it would be to see the nameplate grow.

Peoria Volkswagen Atlas showroom

The 2018 Atlas brings drivers a sprawling cabin with seating for seven passengers across three rows, along with a powerful performance that we can’t help but love. With 235 horsepower and up to 5,000 lbs of towing capacity, this SUV means business. We’d love to see that same spirit take on new form to fit different drivers’ needs!
