Volkswagen I.D. BUZZ concept

At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, we’re pleased to share that we’re one step closer to getting the beloved Volkswagen Microbus back into production! The VW Microbus was an icon of the hippie generation and fans have been waiting for the Microbus to reappear. That wait is finally coming to an end as the brand revamped the classic as part of its I.D. range of electric vehicles, which will eventually hit our Phoenix area VW showroom.

“Emotional cars are very important for the brand. We are selling loads of Beetles still, particularly in US markets. But we will also have the Microbus that we showed, which we have recently decided we will build,” said VW CCEO Herbert Diess.

The I.D. BUZZ concept vehicle made its debut at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. Because of its electric platform, the engine resides in the back of the bus, maintaining the iconic shape that the Microbus is known for. The I.D. BUZZ includes more interior space for an upgraded feel, and is expected to have a driving range of 300 miles and the ability to charge up to 80% in just 30 minutes!

A Modern Spin on a Classic for Phoenix Area Volkswagen Fans

Our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealership is proud to share that Popular Mechanics just named the I.D. BUZZ the “Concept Car of the Year” in their annual Automotive Excellence Awards. These awards recognize the best in automotive design, execution, and technology.

“We are thrilled for the I.D. BUZZ to receive the Concept Car of the Year award. This concept represents how Volkswagen is combining our rich history with fresh takes on modern mobility and the reaction to the car has been extraordinary,” said Hinrich J. Woebcken, CEO of the North American Region, Volkswagen.

The brand’s I.D. isn’t set to hit dealerships until 2020, but while you’re waiting, we encourage you to explore our wide selection of brand new Volkswagen models available at our dealership. To learn more about the I.D. BUZZ concept, contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen at (602) 714-3968.
