Spring has finally sprung, and while we may all get the itch to do a bit of Spring cleaning in our homes, it’s important not to neglect our vehicles. Our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealership offers up some times on getting your VW ready for the new season.
Exterior Body
Getting your car washed regularly helps to protect its exterior from an array of damaging factors. Make sure the first car wash of Spring is a thorough one; be sure to get in all of the nooks and crannies of your car and use a soft towel with mild detergent to wash the vehicle down.
Waxing
Applying a layer of wax after you wash your vehicle is a good idea—as long as you do so out of direct sunlight. Use a spray or liquid wax for best results, and if you’re trying out a new product, be sure to test it on a hidden portion of your car’s exterior to ensure that it works properly.

Windows
Windows, especially the windshield, play the most important role in driver visibility, so it’s integral that they’re kept clean. Clean the inside and outside using a window cleaner and be sure to dry them thoroughly with a clean towel. Do the same for the exterior mirrors and rearview mirror.
Under the Hood
This area is easy to neglect, but make sure you lift the hood and check it out. Leaves and other debris tend to get caught in the engine area, be sure to remove them and wipe down the edges beneath the hood.
Spring is also a great time to make sure that your car is up-to-speed on all of its maintenance needs, which is where our Volkswagen service center near Phoenix comes in. We can take care of any routine maintenance, like oil changes or tire rotations, your vehicle may need.
Wheels
Pay extra attention to the wheels. Remove the hubcaps and wash them down, and be sure to scrub the tires themselves as well as the wheel wells. While you’re at it, be sure to check tire pressure and tighten up any loose lug nuts.
Wipers
Wiper blades are often overlooked, but it’s important to pay close attention to their condition. After all, they keep the windshield free of dirt, dust, and other debris so that you can see clearly when you’re behind the wheel. If your wiper blades are streaking, chattering, or otherwise failing to clean off the windshield, it’s time for a replacement pair.
