Ah, Spring-Training.
That magical time of the year when half of Major League Baseball descends upon Arizona for a month of non-stop ball-throwin’, bat-swingin’ action. As we’re sure our knowledgeable Peoria Volkswagen customers know, the Peoria Sports Complex is hosting the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres this year. If you’re a fan of baseball, there is no better place to do recon for your fantasy team.
But if you’re not a fan of baseball, this post is for you. Everyone has a friend or relative who’s going to try to bring you along to one of these games. They might even be coming in from out of town to do so. We here at Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen care about all our customers, so we’ve put together a list of suggestions for enjoying baseball games you might not be interested in.
Peruse the food and drink selection
It’s not just peanuts and cracker jacks in this ball park. Vendors are waiting inside to dish out everything from Gyros to BBQ, and there’s no shortage of drink selection to rinse your food down. Have a look!
Fill out a scorecard
If you really don’t like baseball, then this option may not be for you; however, if you’re someone who likes sports but has trouble staying focused on the game, this could be just the trick you need to get hooked.
Soak up the culture
Get yourself a foot-long, peanuts, and cracker jacks. Figure out who most of the crowd is rooting for and cheer them on enthusiastically. Boo the other team with equal enthusiasm. Or, if you’re a rabble rouser, do the opposite—just don’t blame us here at the Volkswagen dealership in Peoria for whatever happens if you choose to do that.
Make it your goal to start the wave
There’s a science to starting the wave. You can’t start it when the game’s tense, because the audience is too focused. You can’t start it when your team is down by a lot, because the audience is depressed. You never do it during the visitors half of the inning. You have to read the crowd, and wait until they’re ready. When they are, wave away!
