The system uses an advanced control function based on specific driving conditions, so your Alltrack is up for any environment! “We heard from dealers and customers that they wanted to see a Golf SportWagen with the all-terrain capability that comes from an all-wheel drive system. We are excited to introduce the Golf Alltrack to meet the active lifestyle needs of our customers,” said Joerg Sommer, Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy of Volkswagen of America, Inc. Recipient of a 5-star Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA What makes the Golf Alltrack even sweeter for Peoria VW shoppers is that it has received the highest five-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The NHTSA’s crash test ratings are aimed at helping shoppers make their vehicle purchasing decisions. “The Alltrack was already highly-anticipated, thanks to the combination of SportWagen design and all-wheel-drive performance, so this rating will add to the vehicle’s appeal,” said Sommer. The Alltrack can thank its array of active safety features, such as the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System and the Intelligent Crash Response System, for helping the vehicle to achieve its NHTSA rating. The Automatic Post-Collision Braking System helps to bring the car to a stop after a collision, helping to reduce the change of any additional impacts. In the event of a collision that deploys the airbags, the Intelligent Crash Response System turns off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors, and activates the hazard lights. car wax

How Often Should I Wax My Car?

A car is an investment, and you want to do everything you can to preserve that investment. Along with taking care of the mechanical aspects of your vehicle by staying on top of routine maintenance, it’s just as important to make sure that you take care of the vehicle’s aesthetics. Taking care of your vehicle’s exterior goes beyond getting a car wash every now and then. At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, we recommended getting your car waxed regularly if you want to protect its paintjob. If your car is generally parked in a garage or other shelter, our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealership recommended getting it waxed about twice it year. However, if your car is frequently subjected to the elements, it should be waxed every three to four months. Along with giving the exterior a shiny glow, wax adds an extra layer of protection against harsh weather, salt, bird droppings, tree sap, UV rays, and other crud that can end up on your vehicle. Failing to wax your car regularly allows these corrosive substances to damage the clear coat—the finish that seals the paint; as a result, the paint is exposed. Regular Waxes Help to Protect Your VW from UV Rays in Phoenix Of course, frequent car washes will help to rid your car of the majority of these pesky corrosive substances, but some require a bit more elbow grease to remove. Whether you take care of it yourself or hire someone else to do it, thoroughly cleaning the exterior of your vehicle and applying a good-quality wax coating at least twice a year can keep your paint finish looking as good as new for years to come. If your car needs up-keep beyond a car wash and waxing, you can bring it in to our Volkswagen service center serving Phoenix. When your vehicle is in need a maintenance, having a VW service center that you can trust is key. At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, our service department features VW-certified technicians that have the training and tools required to provide you with quality service. Whether your car is in need of routine maintenance like an oil change, or major repairs, you can trust that the health of your vehicle will be taken care of at our dealership. To learn more about how to protect the exterior of your vehicle, contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen at (602) 714-3968.

VW tire service near Phoenix

Why Regular Tire Rotations Are Important for Your VW Near Phoenix

It’s recommended that your car’s tires be rotated every time you bring it in for an oil change. In the majority of cases, this means about every 7,500-miles or six-months. Why are regular tire rotations so important? The service experts at our Phoenix area VW dealership lays down the facts. Tires are any vehicle perform extra duty because they apply the power to the pavement. On front-wheel drive vehicles, that power is amplified by the weight of the engine and transmission—since the front tire do most of the work in turns. Rotating your vehicle’s tires between the front and rear of your vehicle a couple of times per year helps to spread out the burden, so that all of the tires wear evenly. When is It Time to Rotate Your Tires? You can’t rely on sight alone to tell if it’s time to get your car’s tires rotated, so it’s important to make sure that you’re following a regular schedule. This will help your tires to wear evenly and last longer. Doing whatever you can to make sure that your vehicle’s tires last as long as they can is important, as tires are pricey. How Often Should You Rotate Your Tires? As previously mentioned, most automakers recommend getting a tire rotation every time you get an oil change however; a good guideline is every 6,000-miles or every six-months. Why Are Regular Tire Rotations Important? Regular tire rotations help your car’s tires to wear evenly and last longer and as a result, help you to save money because you won’t need to purchase new tires as often. If, after reading this, you’ve decided that your car is due for a tire rotation, the highly skilled service technicians at our Volkswagen service center near Phoenix can help! Our state-of-the-art service facility offers top-of-the-line care to our customers—with over 120 years of experience, thousands of hours of training, and the special tools and equipment that’s been created especially for servicing Volkswagen models. What’s Causing That Smell?

If your vehicle is giving off an unusual odor instead of that new car smell, it could lead to an expensive repair or health hazard so it’s important to follow your nose. At our Peoria Volkswagen dealer, we’ve got a list of common odors and their possible causes. Sweet Antifreeze has a sweet, syrupy odor and if you’re smelling it inside your car, it usually means that there’s a leak somewhere in the cooling system. The source may not be easy to see; it could be from a corroded heat exchanger or in the form of steam that enters the cabin and fogs the windows. If you notice this sweet smell, have it addressed because breathing in antifreeze is a health hazard. Musty If you notice a musty smell when you turn on the air conditioning, mold or mildew has probably formed in the air conditioning system. Moisture naturally collects on the evaporator, but running the fan at high-speed with the AC turned off can dry the evaporator. If the problem persists, it could be a result of a clog in the drain tube; if that’s the case, bring your car in to our service center and let our service technicians take a look! Electrical Have you noticed a burnt toast smell? That could indicate a short circuit in an electrical component or overheated insulation. You should always take electrical odors seriously, as short circuits and overheated components are common sources of fire. Burning A burning smell could indicate that oil is oozing onto a hot part of the engine or exhaust system. It could also be a result of overheated brake pads or rotors—due to aggressive braking. On a vehicle that features a manual transmission, the clutch plate could be worn or overheating from riding the clutch pedal. Leave or other debris in the engine compartment can also burn on hot surfaces. Rubber The smell of burning rubber could mean that the accessory drive belt is slipping or getting chewed up by a broken pulley or hose rubbing against a moving part. In addition, an overheated clutch plate could also produce a burnt rubber smell. Rotten Eggs If you smell rotten eggs or sulfur, your car’s catalytic converter may have gone bad. This could mean that the engine or emissions system has made the converter overheat. Gas When a cold engine is first started, it’s normal to smell a little gas, but if you continue to smell gas after the engine is warm, the gas cap could be loose or the evaporative emissions control system could be leaking or clogged. The evaporative emissions control system is supposed to contain the fuel vapors and recycle them through the engine. The smell of gas could also indicate that gas is leaking from the tank or another part of the fuel system; always investigate gas smells when your car is parked before starting the car. If you’ve noticed a curious scent in your vehicle, bring it in to our Peoria Volkswagen service cente r and our highly skilled technicians will check it out and make sure that everything is safe! back to school safety

Back to School Safety Tips For Phoenix Area Volkswagen Drivers

Summer has flown by, and many of us are gearing up to send the kids back to school. Especially during this time of year, the roads can get busy—between school buses and children walking to school, so it’s important to be an alert driver. At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealer, we’ve got a few tips to help you and your little ones stay safe while heading back to school. You’ve probably noticed school zones around your children’s schools. These school zones are meant to keep kids safe as they arrive and leave school, but many times, they pose a risk for both pedestrians and motorists. Though it may be hard to believe, many drivers fail to stop or slow down in or near school zones—even with a crossing guard present. The most dangerous time for school zones are during the after-school period between 3 and 4pm. In fact, more school-aged pedestrians are killed by motorists during that time than any other time of day. We can prevent these injuries and deaths in school zones by teaching our children how to safely cross the street and making sure that we’re alert when behind the wheel. It’s important for Phoenix area Volkswagen drivers to understand that the majority of people walking in the school zone probably don’t know the laws, and so it’s our duty to keep an eye out for all pedestrians—especially younger ones who may be distracted by their iPods or iPhones. Here are a few ways that we can keep everybody safe during the school year: Stop properly at stop signs and crosswalks It’s illegal to pass through either a stationary stop sign or one held by a crossing guard or other safety representative. Wait your turn near school buses In all 50 states, it’s illegal to pass a bus on undivided roadways if it’s stopped to load and unload children.  Be sure you know the rules in your state, and never pass a school bus on the right. Pay attention to bus warning lights A yellow flashing light means the bus is preparing to stop to let kids off.  A red light means that kids are currently getting on or off the bus. To learn more about how you can do your part to keep the roads safe during the school year, contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen at (602) 714-3968.

Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go: A No-go Behind the Wheel For Peoria VW Drivers

It may seem obvious and something that shouldn’t have to be said, but the truth of the matter is that ever since Pokemon Go came onto the scene, people need to be reminded that it’s not a good idea to play while behind the wheel. At Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen, our VW dealer in Peoria, we think it’s important to remind people of the dangers of using your smartphone while driving—especially to play Pokemon Go. The smartphone mobile-app-based-video-game phenomena has been taking the world by storm since its release. While it’s certainly got people to be active, it’s only a matter of time before we start to hear about Pokemon Go-related auto accidents. In fact, many cities throughout the U.S. have warned its drivers about Pokemon-ing behind the wheel. Don’t Pokemon & Drive Though Peoria VW drivers may already be aware, the dangers of distracted driving are plentiful. The prospect of drivers playing Pokemon Go while behind the wheel only adds yet another type of distracted driving to the bunch. Thousands of driving fatalities and hundreds of thousands of injuries are attributed to distracted driving annually. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 10-percent of all drivers age 15 to 19 involved in fatal crashes in 2014 were distracted at the time, while drivers in their 20s represent 27-percent of distracted drivers and 38-percent of distracted drivers using smartphones at the time of a fatal crash. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, “Five seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling at 55 MPH, that’s enough time to cover the length of a football field blindfolded.” Keep yourself, your passengers, and fellow drivers safe by saving the Pokemon Go-playing for when you’re on-foot. To learn more about how to stay safe on the road, contact Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen at (602) 714-3968.
