2027 Volkswagen Atlas
The 2027 Volkswagen Atlas is the all-new second generation of the Volkswagen three-row family SUV. It comes with fresh styling, more horsepower, and a much smarter cabin.
At Lunde's Peoria Volkswagen, we're excited to give drivers in Peoria, Phoenix, and Glendale, AZ, an early look at the latest Atlas design. It's built for school runs across the West Valley and weekend trips to Lake Pleasant Regional Park alike. Here's a quick preview of the biggest updates, from the turbocharged engine to the tech-forward interior.
What's New in the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas
Volkswagen debuted the all-new VW Atlas at the New York International Auto Show. It's the first full redesign since the nameplate launched, and it keeps the roomy, upright proportions families love.
Key updates at a glance:
- Updated MQB Evo platform, only about an inch longer than before
- New MIB4 electrical architecture with an Ethernet backbone for faster responses and software updates
- Groundwork for future 48-volt electrification
- Standard power liftgate with kick-to-open
- Standard front and rear Park Distance Control
- Rear-door sunshades and an auto-dimming driver-side mirror
Together, these updates make the new Atlas feel more refined and more connected, and they set it up for even more capability down the road.
Volkswagen Atlas Exterior & Performance Updates Built for the West Valley
The 2027 Atlas looks completely new on the outside and gets a meaningful bump under the hood.
All-new sheet metal gives the Atlas a sharper, more modern stance, and lighting is the real showstopper. LED headlights are standard. Most trims add a front grille with integrated light bars, illuminated front and rear VW logos, a red rear light bar, and new illuminated door handles.
Wheels range from 18-inch alloys on the SE to 20- and 21-inch designs on higher trims. The SEL Premium R-Line tops it off with dual-projector headlights and power-folding mirrors with signature puddle lights.
Power comes from the fifth-generation 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which moffers 282 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. That makes this the most powerful Atlas yet. Miller-cycle cam timing and a variable-geometry turbo help it build boost quickly, and it runs on regular fuel.
An eight-speed automatic is standard. You can choose front-wheel drive or 4MOTION all-wheel drive, which is standard on SEL R-Line trims. The engine's quicker-building boost and smooth power delivery make merging onto Loop 101 or cruising up I-17 feel effortless, whether the third row is empty or full.
Inside the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas: Tech, Comfort, and Three-Row Space
Step inside and the cabin feels completely reimagined. A slim, rectangular dashboard frames a free-floating touchscreen, and real wood trim and ambient lighting come standard on every trim. To see how the new Atlas compares to other models in the lineup, explore our Volkswagen research pages.
- 12.9-inch touchscreen on the SE and a 15-inch display on every other trim
- 10.3-inch Digital Cockpit Pro
- Driver Experience Dial for volume, drive modes, and lighting "atmospheres"
- Premium Speech AI voice assistant that understands natural commands
- Dual Qi2 wireless charging pads and seven USB-C ports
- Nine-speaker audio, with an available 14-speaker Harman Kardon system
Comfort is a big win under the Arizona sun. Every driver gets a 12-way power seat with four-way lumbar support. Upper trims add Varenna or Nappa leather, massaging front seats, and ventilated rear seats.
A second-row bench seats seven, or you can choose captain's chairs for six. B- and C-pillar air vents help keep the second and third rows cool on the hottest Valley afternoons.
