Here at our Phoenix area Volkswagen dealership, you could argue that our team is a bit biased toward these exceptional vehicles. Even so, there’s no denying that vehicles in the Volkswagen lineup tend to stand out when they spend time in front of a camera!

We’re taking a look at two of the automaker’s most distinctive vehicles and their on-screen history. Have you seen these star-studded appearances?

Volkswagen Beetle

One of the most widely recognized vehicles to ever hit the road, the Volkswagen Beetle still turns heads at our Phoenix area showroom today. When the bug shows up on screen, it’s just about impossible to miss!

Who could forget Herbie, the titular Beetle in 1968’s The Love Bug? The little guy had a mind of his own, winning races and helping to boost the model’s popularity in the United States.

Herbie wasn’t the only Beetle to take to the screen, though. When a Beetle cut across the green to hit Adam Sandler’s character in Happy Gilmore, all the golfer could shout was “Volkswagen!”

The Beetle has also had its share of screen time on TV, making appearances in shows including Once Upon a Time, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and Futurama. Even when this compact makes an appearance in the background, it’s impossible to miss.

Volkswagen Type 2 Van

Another of the automaker’s unmistakable models is the famous VW Bus, more formally known as the Type 2 Van. A favorite for road trips, the Type 2 has been spotted in films like Little Miss Sunshine and Back to the Future. An abandoned VW Bus also appeared on Lost, when Hurley and Charlie sent it flying down a mountain in an attempt to get a rolling start.

While the Type 2 Van may be a time capsule these days, the Beetle is still rolling strong and drawing attention here at Lunde’s Peoria Volkswagen.
